What you type stays on your iPhone. Kynect has no servers, no accounts, no ads and no tracking. The only thing that ever leaves your phone is a GIF search, and only if you use one.
Who we are
Kynect Keyboard (“Kynect”) is a keyboard for iPhone. Questions about privacy: info@kynect.ca.
What you type
Everything you type with Kynect is processed on your iPhone. It is never sent to us or to anyone else, and we never see it. Autocorrect, suggestions, swipe typing and emoji all work fully offline.
What Kynect learns
To get better at understanding you, Kynect remembers:
- words and short phrases you use often,
- where your taps tend to land on each key,
- fixes you undid, so it doesn’t make them again.
This stays in Kynect’s storage on your iPhone. You can erase it at any time in the Kynect app: go to Settings and tap Forget What Kynect Learned. Deleting the app deletes it too.
Full Access
iOS asks whether to “Allow Full Access” for any keyboard that can use the internet or the clipboard. Kynect works without it. If you turn it on, Kynect uses it only for:
- clipboard history,
- GIF search,
- key sounds and vibration on key taps,
- showing your stats and what it learned in the Kynect app, and changing the theme from the keyboard. These stay on your iPhone.
Turning on Full Access does not change how your typing is handled. It still never leaves your iPhone.
Clipboard history
With Full Access on, Kynect keeps text you copy while the keyboard is open, plus text you choose to save. It is stored only on your iPhone. Items disappear after one hour unless you pin them. Clipboard history is never sent anywhere.
GIF search
GIF search is the only feature that sends anything off your iPhone. It needs Full Access, and nothing is sent unless you open GIFs.
GIFs come from KLIPY. When you browse or search GIFs, Kynect sends KLIPY:
- your search words (nothing, if you are just browsing popular GIFs),
- a random ID created on your iPhone. It isn’t linked to your name, your Apple Account or any other app, and it lets KLIPY count requests without knowing who you are,
- your language and region setting, such as “en_CA”, so results fit your language,
- which GIF you pick, so KLIPY can count how often each GIF is used.
Like any internet request, KLIPY can also see your IP address. Kynect never sends KLIPY anything you type in other apps.
We don’t receive or store any of this data. KLIPY handles it under its own privacy policy. We only share data with KLIPY, and it protects that data at least as well as this policy does.
Translate
Translate uses Apple’s translation, which runs on your iPhone. Kynect sends nothing to us or to anyone else. Downloading a translation language is handled by iOS under Apple’s privacy policy.
Fix Grammar and Rewrite
Fix Grammar and Rewrite use Apple Intelligence, which runs on your iPhone. When you finish a sentence or pause, Fix Grammar checks that sentence on your iPhone. Rewrite works on the text you ask it to rewrite. Neither sends your text to us or to anyone else. Both work only on iPhones that support Apple Intelligence, with it turned on.
Themes and your photo
If you choose “Your Photo” as a keyboard background, the photo is shrunk and stored on your iPhone only. It is used only as the background and is never sent anywhere.
Purchases
PRO is a one-time purchase sold through Apple, and Apple handles payment. We only learn whether PRO was bought on your Apple Account. We never see your name, email or payment details.
What we don’t do
- We don’t run servers or keep accounts.
- We don’t show ads.
- We don’t use analytics or tracking tools.
- We don’t sell or share data with data brokers or advertisers.
Crash reports from Apple
If you choose to share analytics with app developers (Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple may send us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. They don’t identify you, and you can turn this off at any time.
Children
Kynect is not directed at children under 13. It doesn’t collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Keeping and deleting your data
Everything Kynect stores is on your iPhone:
- Learned words and taps stay until you erase them in the Kynect app or delete it.
- Stats are counts only: words a day, typos fixed, typing speed, taps on each letter key and how often each key sound has played. They never include what you typed. Erasing what Kynect learned clears them too.
- Clipboard items expire after one hour, unless pinned.
- Deleting Kynect removes all of its data from your iPhone.
We hold no data about you, so there’s nothing for us to access, export or delete. You can still write to us with any request, and we’ll help. For GIF search data held by KLIPY, you can also contact KLIPY through its privacy policy.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we’ll post the new version here and update the date at the top.
